This post is a press release originally featured on inMotionNow’s website: inMotionNow Adds Dependencies to Enhance Project Management Features in Creative Workflow Software
Raleigh, NC – July 31, 2019 – inMotionNow, a leading provider of workflow management software for creative and marketing teams, announced today the addition of ‘Dependencies’ to its flagship product inMotion ignite. Dependencies occur when getting one part of a creative project finished is dependent on another being completed first. The feature provides new options for creative directors and creative project managers to more effectively organize creatives tasks and keep projects and campaigns in motion.
“The scale of creating high-quality and omnichannel marketing campaigns, in large marketing organizations, is complex and time-consuming. It requires careful and detailed project management that can easily span weeks and months,” said Josh Trauberman, Product Manager at inMotionNow. “Dependencies simplifies this, fostering improved collaboration between the art of creative and the science of marketing to build and employ better marketing campaigns a whole lot faster.”
Dependencies are designed to resolve three pressing problems which creatives and marketers typically have.
1) Creative project managers needed an easier way to manage the workflow for complex marketing campaigns. Doing so ensures the right tasks are being completed in the right order and on deadline.
For example, a new marketing campaign can easily involve many different creative projects – messaging, design, copy, graphics, imagery, packaging, multimedia, and much more – but absent a sense of priority for what must be done first. This often leads to a lot of back and forth and miscommunication, which can drag out the process and slow the objective of getting a campaign into market to drive sales leads or market awareness.
2) It notifies creatives and designers when it’s time to work on a particular asset in support of an overall project or campaign – as opposed to showing them a laundry list of tasks they might complete over a period of time. The latter both lacks prioritization and can feel overwhelming to individual designers that need space to be creative.
3) It provides all individuals assigned to a task with in-app filters to remove distractions. In other words, it enables users to hide those tasks that don’t need their attention right now, which helps them focus on the tasks the team really needs them to complete.
CMOs have been steadily building out in-house creative teams largely for that purpose. In a content-driven world, bringing creative and marketing under a single roof is aimed at delivering more campaigns, more efficiently, and without sacrificing creative quality. Yet industry research, such as the 2019 In-House Creative Management Report, shows the collaborative process between these two teams needs improvement. The data also suggests teams that focus on improving collaboration tend to be higher performing.
The Dependencies feature is aimed squarely at mitigating this concern while also meeting the explicit needs of customers. To that end, it’s flexible – it can be configured to fit the unique process of a given organization. That’s important because the creative process a consumer-packaged-goods (CPG) business follows to build a campaign launching a new product will be different than that of a health care company or higher education organization. Creative project managers can use Dependencies project-by-project or choose to manage dependencies across several projects within a higher-level campaign.
inMotionNow has a 20-year history of creating collaborative technologies specifically designed to meet the needs of creative teams. This announcement is the latest in a series of new capabilities the company is bringing to market. For example, in late 2018, it unveiled inMotion ignite, a totally new creative workflow management platform. In addition, it rolled out Campaign Management to organize and manage the many individual creative projects that comprise strategic marketing initiatives in early 2019. Today, with the addition of Dependencies, it’s providing a sophisticated yet easy way to prioritize those projects.
“Dependencies are a clear way to outline and build collaborative processes that streamlines creative workflow and yields the high-quality creative that is pivotal for impactful marketing,” added Trauberman. “In today’s competitive environment, that’s never been more important to efficiently develop the most effective marketing campaigns.”
inMotionNow actively manages an early adopter program among its existing customers to test new features and functionality the company is developing. Dependencies have been in beta testing for several weeks with more than a dozen customers and today’s announcement marks the general availability of the enhancement.
